“You can call it rock and roll – or you can call it country music. I just don’t like the label country-rock,” claimed Gram Parsons in his [final interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBBnsedC9Jg). Before his death at the age of 26, Parsons released the solo album “GP” and was a member of [The Byrds](https://open.spotify.com/album/02XyFDfvHfIwtqOC3o0PcK?si=gK6f4iQzTQCqASqLNp0snA), [The International Submarine Band](https://open.spotify.com/album/1vmuQAlppoAY0D3BHTCqtd?si=nyjleEi7RGqtRK8OAa4-RA) and [The Flying Burrito Brothers](https://open.spotify.com/album/6VWKy5o2OcdeWa7yolazjU?si=lxGfJ5SjQ9WcT4XmHoyAAg). However, arguably the defining album in the Cosmic American scope was his post-mortem record “[Return of the Grievous Ange](https://open.spotify.com/album/6UQujMGmR5MbFsML9amCuN?si=khLzxSSaTE-CXb-9nHg63g)l”. A synthesis of country, folk, rock, blues, gospel, and beyond: Cosmic Americana was the conciliator between the hippies and the outlaws.
